Coach Akeim was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  He attended Temple University in Philadelphia where he majored in Sports Medicine and Management.  Coach Akeim is a former Director of a YMCA and owner of a successful small business in Philadelphia.

Upon relocating to Los Angeles in January 1998 he quickly found work as a Youth Sports Instructor for the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.  Coach Akeim success with teaching children the fundamental skills for playing various sports led to the start of LA-Sports Kidz.

When Coach Akeim started LA-Sports Kidz and needed someone to assist him with classes he called Coach Phil and they have been working together every since.

Coach Phil's ability to effectively communicate with children and get down on their level to produce results has really contributed to the success of LA-Sports Kidz. The children and parents all appreciate Coach Phil's style of coaching. When Coach Phil is teaching LA-Sports Kidz it's hard to tell who is having the most FUN between him and the children.

Coach Gillian Prolzee

Coach Gillian Prolzee

Gillian Prolzee

With 5 years of soccer coaching experience with children ages 3-6, and originally from the UK, Coach Gillian migrated to Los Angeles 14 years ago to work as a specialist counselor teaching Gym-fit to children ages 5 through 11. Having always known that working with children was her passion and vocation, it was a position that she embraced with joy and honor.

Before leaving England, Gillian played soccer and many other sports at County level, all through High School and College, and later, along with a personal friend, worked with a pro gramme called 'FitKid', focusing on the importance of exercise for children, whilst having fun. These sessions included specialized games, obstacle courses and other such 'organized fun' in order to get the body moving, whilst giving children a sense of joy and accomplishment.

Coach Gillian has added greatly to her already extensive coaching experience, in providing private care for infant, toddler, Kindergarten and grade school children and their families. She fully understands that all children have unique and individual needs and that coming together in a 'team' environment can help bring out and nurture positive qualities in a child that will prove in assisting them become well adjusted young adults.

Coach Ben Samuels

Coach Ben Samuels

Ben Samuels

Coach Ben just drove from New York City to Los Angeles in September. He was born in the Big Apple, but grew up in Doylestown, PA outside of Philadelphia. He attended Tufts University in Boston and graduated with a double major in Drama and Psychology. For two years, he lived in his birth city, but finally decided to trade East for West and couldn't be more excited to work for LA Sports Kidz in his new home.

Ben grew up playing intramural soccer, before going on to play at school. His father coached him for years and later Ben co-coached his younger brother's team. For Ben, sports have always been about family, fostering personal and interpersonal growth, and unconditional support. He is happy to bring that positive attitude and excitement to his coaching every weekend.
